Theo You Good-looking SOB!
Theo is a "World Champion" pizza chef. Apparently, he also sells these little pizza cookers. I know this because there is this faded old pizza cooking box that overlooks me as I eat my meal in the small kitchen at work. Theo gloats over me as though his day is better than mine. He looks down on my meal and judges my choices.
Theo doesn't care. Theo is the World Class Pizza Maker whom not only is good enough to sell the world's best but also the device to cook with.
Damnit Theo, how did you stumble into this one?
I have to wonder if Theo chose the pizza life or if the pizza life chose him. After all, there has to be something in your blood, some kind of gold running through those veins to take such a perfect food as is and be the best at it.
God anointed Theo in his abilities. Giving him the gift that young boys can only dream about. He was called to do something great and by the box and title of it, he seems to have done it.
I on the other hand, not so well.
Yes, sadly I do not bring the amount of joy and satisfaction as Theo, I am left to be a consumer rather than a producer. I take and do not contribute. I am no pizza man and in fact, any attempts I have made to produce my own have left my mouth dry and my stomach upset. I do not have the gift Theo does.
My choices in life have taken me further from the destination I wanted and more into what I don't. Well, they did anyway. Instead, I decided to intervene. Instead of passively going along with what I don't have, I have decided to indulge in what I do have.
What I do have is 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 eyes, 2 ears, one mouth, a healthy family, dogs, food, everything I could ever want. I'm rich. So are you. I can say this with 99% confidence because you are reading this. This is a blog after all, it requires a computer, Internet access, vision to see, a mind to comprehend, free time to do so.
What I don't have is pizza-making skills, a successful business, or the title of "Worlds Best" anything, but what I do have was meant for me. Just like Theo more than likely didn't pick the pizza life, but it chose him. The life I have was given to me. A blessing. For the mistakes I have made in the past should not have allowed me to have all I do. Many people justify why they should have more, when I argue as to why I have so much. Not all the time, for I like things too, however it truly is a blessing to have the things we do, no matter how small.
Life is all about perspective. You can choose to see yourself as not a world-class pizza maker, or be grateful he exists. I am very glad people like Theo chose to follow their calling and make the world a better place.*
(* I do not know Theo, he could be a dirtball. I just saw this box and thought it would be a good idea to write about it.)
"Hey Theo, I'm happy with my decision." I think to myself, looking up towards the box.
