Perverse Self.

Image
Sacrifice for ourselves, or for what we perceive others to see in us. Sacrificing for something greater, something we don't yet allow ourselves to see the value in. Maybe we don't see the value because we are living too dumbed down, to unable to see what is and has always been right in front of us? Maybe we like to be in this ignorant state because to admit the truth would hurt too much. After all, isn't change a difficult thing, like pain is a difficult thing? Is changing more difficult than pain and therefore we admit to living in our own wretched state unable to alter perspectives outside of ourselves? We want the good and pleasurable yet we have it, get more of it, have more on the horizon, and still here we are miserable and seeking. We seek alternative jobs, alternative communities. We seek alternative sex partners, alternative drugs and scenes. We seek alternative TV shows or projects. We seek more money, a vacation, getting to know different people than our ol...

Plethora.

Image
This is the year I am going to do it. I am going to do restrict the entire week before Thanksgiving. I am going to workout, extra hard, even on the day of to make up for all the extra calories I will have earned. I might be in such a state of famine that the extra slices of pie will be converted to the then devastated muscle tissue. "Gotta get my Fitbit steps up to justify the 4th helpings."  Logic has a funny way of being illogical. The contradiction here should entertain as well as intrigue. What is true in our minds is true to us. Even if "science" (yes I meant the quotes) deems our truth as false, we might not choose to recognize this "science." Outsiders may deem our view of the truth as "wrong" though that really doesn't matter to us, does it? I think that even the most passive people stand up for what they believe in. Even if it is in their own head. I believe that some of the most feeble-minded people have the most concrete bel...

Hungry.

Image
Hunger has been such a critical, new-age word meant for all sorts of things. The first time I considered the use of the word outside of anything food related, was when rappers said they were "hungry." It meant success typically (money, fame, notoriety). I'm a little old-fashioned I guess because to me hunger is in relation to food and food alone. My desire for anything else isn't necessarily as powerful as hunger is. Even the pigs eat their greens. What is this uncomfortable sensation though? Like being hungry is a biological desire for nutrients aka food? To some, it means a deficient blood sugar where food help raises to a sustainable level, other people refer to hunger when they are bored and something, "sounds good." I can relate to both. I can understand hunger for stimulation and hunger for the biological components. The hunger for nutrient purposes is one I have grown more fond of. The stimulation version of hunger still lies inside, manage...

7 Keys to Unlocking Health (no, not really)

Image
Take a closer look. Let's take a look at a better body. I'll start superficially here. Now, we want to look better, preferable with clothes off, maybe in a bathing suit? OK, we want to look better for, others? That right there can involve some self-esteem work if that is the motive. Now, we want to look better, so what do we assume? We assume that by losing body fat and increasing muscle mass, or just the first, will do it right? I just need to lose 10 pounds. A number on a scale. Scales which are all just different enough and if used at different times, that poundage can fluctuate. So, maybe it isn't a number we are after, but a look. We assume that a loss of 10 pounds would look a certain way right? Like there is an image in your head as to what you are shooting for. You think that the 10 pounds will pull directly from the stomach region, or the hips, or the thighs, the areas that people are typically concerned about. OK, so now we are expecting to lose a solid 10 ...

Diet Dilemma

Image
As diet phenomenons go, they strike with ferocity, only to leave with a subtle whisper. Fad diets, no matter how much they are based in research will inevitably pass thus leaving people to their old behaviors. Diets like Atkins, where carbohydrates are eliminated and certain ones slowly let back in, Ketogenic diet, which can be pretty severe, Intermittent Fasting where you go for 8-16-or 24 hour bursts with no food, I call that being poor at work, and a popular one as of late, (If It Fits Your Macros) or IIFYM for short. Whatever you decide and whatever happens afterwards, make sure not to be too hard on yourself. For my brothers and I growing up, carbohydrates were one of the first things we learned about as detrimental to our physiques. When I entered college I discovered that the highly refined types were also detrimental to my mental health, a fact that sticks with me still today. However "low-carb" the family, outside of my littlest brother and father whom tend to ea...
