Frozen! Let it go...

Image
On an Autumn Saturday afternoon, the weather, a cool, cloudy day, a slight chill reminding the world summer is at its end. On these days, I am the most nostalgic. The candles in the house all reminding me of a childhood memory. These involving school activities, football, dances, and baking, who could forget the baking. On this particular day, I drew the paper in my Tupperware bowl of frozen pizza, this to include Red Baron pepperoni, Digiorno, stuffed crust cheese, Tombstone, pepperoni and sausage, and a specialty Target brand (Archer Farms) goat cheese, spinach, and tomatoes. The smell of Yankee Candle scents were prematurely in the air weeks ago. Apple Cider and apple spice, combined with the cooking pizzas and a home improvement show on the television for the Huskers had already lost their football game.  Frozen pizzas, indicative of home, reminding me of a childhood defined by food. A feeling of temperature change, smell of candles, and a warmth on the inside of the hou...

The Knowledge of Absence Means You Know it Existed.

What am I doing this for? How am I able to go about searching for the "best" pizza in my opinion, or at least discuss pizzas in general? This must mean that I know what I am looking for. I must have some guide in my mind to which these pizzas are compared against. I cannot recall. Maybe the pizza I am referring to isn't a pizza at all. Maybe the right combination is found in a sandwich. Maybe found in sushi. Maybe pasta would suffice? Maybe, just maybe, this entire thing is faulty and I am just looking for something to do. Something to pass my time. Something to write about thus allowing me to indulge the superficial sense of pleasure through food? More questions than answers. More pizza than toppings. What am I looking for? Who has this answer? Nobody is to look this deep into pizza, can I get a deep-dish pizza? Does that mean the depth of the pizza signifies the kind? Or does the topping designate the type or kind of pizza? Am I eating pizza at all or am I just imagin...

I Don't Want to...

Sometimes the thing you have to do is the thing you most-likely don't want to do. I don't want to restrict caffeine, however when I do, I notice I sleep better and have less lethargy later in the day. Plus, I am not spending money on various caffeinated supplements. Also, I get less headaches, and who knows what other long-term changes this implements. I know the body likes to be balanced and caffeine irregulates a system to override a body's natural process. Is this then not a problem? The imbalance that is. I have to ask myself where are all the nutrients, neurotransmitters, and necessary organ functioning coming from in being able to process the caffeine, not to mention the body to stay amped for so long? When are the withdrawals going to require some deposit? At what time am I willing to give less because of one time I gave more? Substances in general work on the same concept. They take from the body, provide some boost or feeling, alteration of reality, and then la...

The Masses.

"I'm not black, I'm O.J.........OK" The song: The Story of O.J. By: Jay-Z The reference: An interview O.J. Simpson gave when he was attending college as USC amidst racism and violence, he was to choose a side. He chose to be O.J. Simpson. The masses are often wrong. Looking back over history, for which I am not a buff, and you can see the devastation and corruption lining all accounts. In Elementary school stories of "non-fiction" are retold with a sort of softness, lacking any true conviction. For many of us, what we learned in our public school was the extent of our American history knowledge. After all, Americans can talk about injustice in other countries, I mean, that was them, we aren't like that. Tell that to the Native Americans who continue to suffer today. Tell that to the African Americans wretched with problems from earlier wrong-doings by those in power at the time.Tell that to any other skin color outside of white or relig...

What's the best way for an engine to run longer? Treat it better. What's the best way to run the body better? Treat it properly. Better is for machines and devices that stay the same. The human body is always changing, working against you a lot of the time to stay efficient, but mostly survive. If it were up to the conscious mind of a human we never would have existed. Instead God, in his infinite wisdom, knew that the body had to pretty much run its self with minimal to do on our part. If you disagree, then watch the latest episode of my 600 lb Life on TLC and you will see how the body is able to survive in even the most horrid American conditions. The gym is a place people turn to when they want to make a significant change. The idea that by getting active and participating in a structured setting whether it be boot camps classes, weight training, or even just getting on the treadmill, they will find their answer. Now, the problem isn...

Create.

Image
So God created mankind in his own image,   in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.- Genesis 1:27 Man is God's greatest creation. God created man. Right there in the first part of Genesis. The only reason we weren’t created first is because in the first 26 versus of the Bible he had to create somewhere to put us. Like having a bunch of toys with no storage, God didn't want to step on anybody.   The world is filling up. Not just with God's best creation, but what his creations create. Our words, ideas, thoughts, all able to be published and sent into the world for any and everyone to see. Words of hurt, hate, negativity, all pollute our world. Topics created as insignificant attempts at attention all contributing to an underlying negativity. Experiences are being tainted by the excess of information unable to sift through or interpret truth. As an adult, I can read through a biased article and pull out what I need, ignoring t...

Pizza Hut? More Like Pizza Sucked!

Image
Early behaviors in life, reinforced over time, left unchanged.  The name this week, Pizza Hut. Nostalgia kicks in. Memories of celebrations and night of "fancy pizza" from childhood. In Scottsbluff, Ne we only ventured for the Pizza Hut on special occasions. The Hut was the best pizza around, the most expensive, but by far, the best. I still hold Pizza Hut in high accord based on these early childhood experiences. In honor of a Saturday filled with greasy za, let's look at some interesting facts about The Hut. Pizza Hut was founded in June 15th, 1958 in Witchita, KS by Dan and Frank Carney on a $600 loan from mom while attending college . One of the first managers in Wichita, Kansas was actually Bill Parcels, the NFL coach who now has 2 Super Bowl rings (he left the job to coach) .  There are more than 15,000 locations in over 90 countries. Headquarters in Plano, TX. For more of these facts here's a website: http://mentalfloss.com/article/7098...
