Hurricane Harvey

Dictators demand subordination, a human tendency of superiority, neglecting others. A feeling of right, followed-through at all costs, in many cases to their own demise. Dictators are so disgraceful because they are people and people make choices. Choosing to devastate others for your cause is borderline "evil" as man defines it.   Earth doesn't give a damn. Earth does what it does without any concern for human life. Through the years, plagues have kept the population under control. Famine and disease, all intended to lower the population, conserve resources.   Hurricanes, natural disasters, as man puts it, are not disasters to the world, but natural occurrences. Occurrences that can happen anytime, anywhere, with no rhyme or reason. These occurrences are what keep humans in check, for without this restoration of power we would not be here today.   Humans are superior beings because we do care and we look for reason in what seems to be so ...

I hope you fail

Image
I hope you fail miserably. I hope you have a hard time. I hope things don’t go your way. Most importantly, I hope that nobody steps in to “save” you. My life is my journey and nobody can walk it for me. There is no warning of all the potholes along the way. I wouldn’t have listened even if they tried. No, I needed to fail. I needed for people to bully me, make me an outcast. I needed a little neglect now and then to remind me that I am not the center of the universe. I need reminders from my wife that I am “not that important” and that my perspective, no matter how educated, isn’t the only “right” one. I have failed and I hope you do to. I hope you go through some of the most difficult-to-comprehend life events, for without those opportunities you will never grow. Damn it life can suck sometimes. Just like when I was a kid and wanted to do what I thought best but my loving parents said “no.” It doesn’t matter if their intent was to keep me safe or simply saying “no” due ...

Quantity, Not Quality: The CiCi's Story.

Image
The names of over 40 options written down, put on to little pieces of paper and placed inside a Tupperware bowl. Their fate is not my choice, for God will determine this adventure. As I place my hand into the plastic bowl, I am hopeful for a good one. When I pull out the paper and see the pizza adventure for the week, I cringe. I turn the paper around to show the, now expanded audience of participants...... CiCis! CiCis Pizza, for those of you unfamiliar, is more of a quantity versus quality type of place. The commercials most recently boast of a new "Grill'd Cheese Stuffed Crust," and "Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza," which alone states what I am getting into. The family and cousins are along for this ride. I chose the name on Friday night to prepare for the festivities sometime on Saturday. There is no order out option, we are damned. Damned to a 20 plus minute drive to the north part of Lincoln to eat a buffet-style meal, for which my principles do not agree...

Algorithm to success

Image
Being that any psychological job is at the bottom of the hierarchy of sciences, I figured I would delve in the realm of the mathematical. People like numbers (psychology) people get confused and turned off by things they cannot rate. How do I know something is better than something else if there is no RESEARCH to determine it? How can I argue somebody and prove them wrong if I don’t have numbers flowing in my favor? How in the world do I know what to choose for my kid if there are no numbers to determine good, better, best? So, why not attempt to put qualitative data in a quantitative definition so people know what to do to be successful. Here it goes: X+y=xy BAM ! Your problems are solved. The problems including lack of funds or no ladies or gents wanting you are all wrapped up in that algorithm. Just like in algebra you have the theory, so now you just plug and chug baby. Obviously X is you and Y is what you believe you can do, so the end result is the version of ...

Supercilious

Belief in your own superiority is a justified cause. In all fairness, when a person has a belief, they don't want to be wrong. It hurts to be wrong. It sucks to admit that you at your most organic self didn't do something right. Maybe there was a Facebook post or an Instagram picture that at the time you believed in it, but over time, eh.... I'm not "right" and you're not "wrong," because these are constructs humans use to define and therefore categorize things. There is no one way to do anything. If I want women to have more power, then I believe that men need to feel more empowered. Men need more confidence and to be true to themselves versus the stereotypes that may pigeonhole them. Then women will be able to flourish and grow. The initial steps of empowering men for the big picture of empowering women would undoubtedly get misunderstood. As subtle as it might be, the stereotypes of men in media may be the thing keeping women more suppre...

Food Critic of the Worst kind

"Why not?" Walking around the Haymarket with my wife. Pretending like we live in the city in our large town (at best). A town on the move. A town with hints of city. Alternatives, different cultures, different restaurants, and most of all, different foods. I tell my wife all the time I want to do something different. She sighs. She's heard this before. She knows me. She knows my comfort zone is small and the power it takes to change it. The power I lack. This time I mean it. This time when I say let's do something different, we are. "This time," said so many times. This time though.... Pizza has always been a passion of mine. Through my history of loving healthy and nutritious foods I have always had a side chick. Pizza has been there through thick and thin. Pizza was there when I was a child with nothing else to eat. Pizza has been there to celebrate some of life's biggest milestones. Pizza has supported me and I it, in both the healthiest ...
