The Good, The Good, and The Good.
Light is considered "good," because throughout life, lack of light inhibits our ability to see, interpret, and sense danger. I feel, because the sun produces light that plants need to live and almost all organic beings need to survive, that light makes perfect sense as the representation of all that is "good," in the world.
Darkness is indicative of evil right? Like, all the bad things happen at night, darkness is the absence of light, darkness is colder, lonelier, and biologically discounts one of our best senses, sight. With darkness being the root of all evil, the sum of all fears, what is it about the light that makes us so at peace? After all, would I rather see my death coming at me, or have it be a surprise out of the darkness? Would I rather live in the shadows or be exposed by the light to those I otherwise wouldn't want to know certain things about me. Isn't the internet a form of "light," where aspects of ourselves we try to keep hidden can now be calculated from our Google search history? The web could expose us, or we ourselves though what we thought was a darker, back door to safety?
I guess it all depends on how you look at it. I like looking at the light in a spiritual way. After all, the Bible is laced with references to God and light, for which I cannot recite these exact versus. Light means warmth, openness, comfort, even peace. For humans, we tend to think too literal sometimes. As a way to distance ourselves from a spiritual world that we have no control over or answers for. People want to rely on the darker depiction of the world, because it is OUR world and this stuff means everything, right?
My examples are too literal themselves. In the realm of "problems," what we do is too insidious to point out. We are better at disguising ourselves from our selves. Maybe I have an underlying need to get likes on social media, however I go about getting them in seemingly unselfish ways. Maybe I tell people back-handed compliments that taken at face value seem nice, but in the long run their existence is futile. We are beings that have adapted not just our brains physically, but our social norms to obscure to measure and by the time they are understood have evolved, again.
These reasons are why the light is such a good thing and why all good comes from light places. Even taking ourselves too seriously and not "light," enough finds us living a competition. The light of the world is where we are safe to lay our heads. We want to lay, exposed, in genuine fashion thus preventing anyone from hurting us because we already exposed the parts they could know. We crave genuine conversation, but rather overeat on the buffet line of superficial. We desire real and true relationships, yet we settle on what we know is poisonous, when we are honest with ourselves that is. We don't even love US enough to just be, we find crutches of people and drugs, and associations, and notoriety that make up for the fragile self we truly feel.

Why not expose these parts? Light up our world if that picture helps. Take the darkest parts of us, the parts we hide and expose them. Maybe not to the world, for the consequences may be severe and humans are flawed and judgmental creatures. Instead, give these problems to God.
Yes, there it is, the religious aspect that allows you to discount the truth you may have felt thus far. You can not turn from the page as "another religious thing." Maybe this time will be different though. Maybe this time you won't have to see it as religious, but see it as a way out. A way out of pain, a peace and contentment one cannot find here. Maybe these words aren't even mine, but something that was written for you to read and trigger a thought.
This world lives in the shadows. The leaders appointed have their flaws and slowly but surely they are being exposed. The male movie actors, turning out to have secrets, the female all turning out to be "snobs." Our heroes die and the ones we depend on to protect us, fail at being inhuman. Human is what we are, what we have developed is flawed. Instead, your only way out has to be something higher, something lighter, something that this world cannot account for or minimize, to touch. The only thing this world can do is to keep you feeling something that distracts you. Feelings pass however, we all know that. Our emotions are temporary and there is another story depicting another side around the corner, waiting. So, why, how, logically speaking of course, could you depend on this place for your love, your comfort, your light?
Again, we are too insidious of a creature to take the words at face value. Plus, who am I, but just like you. Anything you've thought, I probably can relate. Actions are a different beast however, for I knew long ago what was and wasn't to be done. This doesn't make my motives or my deceit any different than anyone else.
Any human will fail you if you dig deep enough. Anything in this life is shallow and holds an ulterior motive. What you are looking for is higher than this. Once you invest in God, the father of Jesus, you have found what you were looking for. Life does not then get perfect, it just becomes more understandable. We are flawed, this is a fact. For this reason, I cannot blame anyone but myself for my misery. Though, with the light at my back, nothing is dark.
God Bless.

It is our literal perception of things that keeps us too into what only matters for our own good. Our own good mind you, that we have messed up in the past. As children, we thought our "own good," involved us eating candy all day. As adults, now we can, and realize the destruction this causes. Men, it is socially acceptable to lust after a woman, yet this lust causes us to destroy anything good and pure that we may have had in our current relationships. Women, maybe you have a tendency to compare to your girlfriends which is justified a number of ways, but who wins this "game," in the end?
